Mindful Travel
Traveling Mindfully
When you think of mindfulness, you probably think of the type of guided meditation you might find at a yoga retreat — Closed eyes, sitting in a room with others, and being led through a meditation exercise. While this description is not inaccurate (after all, mindfulness traces its roots to sitting meditative practices of Zen Buddhism), the potential applications of mindfulness extend far beyond structured meditation exercises. At its core, mindfulness is the practice of bringing your awareness to your present experiences - as well as all of the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings that come with it. Whether you’re cooking, driving, or even brushing your teeth, every activity in your day-to-day life can be done mindfully.
How can mindfulness be incorporated into a travel experience? For many wellness or yoga retreats, mindfulness is guided. Guests travel to a resort, villa, or hotel to practice guided mindfulness exercises. The practice itself remains the same, regardless of the location.
At Terra & Tu, we’ve embraced a broader approach to mindfulness. Rather than sit inside all day meditating, we view the travel experience in and of itself as an opportunity for mindfulness. Instead of detracting from the travel experience and taking time away from opportunities to experience your destination, we’ve crafted adventures in which wellness and travel are seamlessly intertwined, each enriching the other. Whether you’re mindfully tasting the local foods, appreciating the beauty of your surroundings, or mindfully pondering the local culture, mindfulness is a fully integrated aspect of our adventures.
At Terra & Tu, we don’t just travel to practice mindfulness. We travel mindfully.
